Two Days

May I say
Look out at the bay

Should I stay

For another day

What will you do

Would you feel blue

Summer breeze blows

Wind without snow

Ticking clock stopped

American flag dropped

Moment of silence

Pretty as an iris

I look away

Thinking of what to say

↟↟

All generations become lost
In the days where time stood still
When the sun touched the stars

↟↟

When your eyes burn
From the tainted air

You can't help but
Stop and stare
At something that
Was never there

↟↟

Clouds form in
My cup of tea

Liquid becoming
The never ending sea

↟↟

My nose runs but
nothing appears

This cold never comes
but always stays near

↟↟

I wander through
Maine's woods
One hot summer day

Looking for an object
I cannot describe to
Humans with even souls

For I am looking to see
Myself in the leaves
On the tall trees
All around me

↟↟

Feet glide across the floor

Unreal to those who see

They're completely in their element

A universe away from reality

Anger: We & You

We're angry at things
We cannot change

We're angry at people
We do not know

We're angry at what
Our society has become

We're angry at violence
We do not understand

We're angry at the negativity
We have no control over

We're angry our voices
Are silenced by evil

We're angry innocent lives
Are lost too soon

We're angry nothing is being done
To fix what makes us angry

↟↟

You cannot let anger stay
Bottled up inside you

It will destroy you
Every moment you don't
Release what's building
Inside your lost soul

You want to pretend like
Everything is fine and
Act as though what is
Happening doesn't effect you

You say you're calm
But you're dying a slow death
Full of insane pain
You don't wish to reveal

Anger
We & You

People Watching On A Quiet Friday Afternoon

I watch people's lives go by through windows
With no reflections of the inside to the outside
Leaving blank mysteries to those who pass by

Souls with names I will never know
But will remember through the words I write

The woman in front of me wears chic glasses over her brown eyes
A name is written on her cups of water and coffee that I'd probably mispronounce
Reading a novel checked out from the local public library
Brown hair highlighted slightly blonde drapes over her face
Glancing at her gold iPhone every now and then
Fashionable blue turtle neck under a motorcycle jacket
She stares off into the distance as though she's waiting
For someone to come or something to happen
Her book flipped down on the black table sitting
Next to a faux fire on a quiet Friday afternoon
Typing on her phone a smile appears on her lips coated in pink lip gloss
Maybe she's talking to someone she loves

Cars go by
Kids are now getting out of school
I must go..

Different Angle

Let's begin the story once again

Same words but through a new perspective

A different angle not thought of before

That changes how the story is viewed

But not what the story is about

That will never change

Love Inspired By 1989

welcome to new york

birds can be heard
flying over the
crystal blue water
on a morning
in late may

two souls will meet
destined to effect
change in another's
life that come to
the city in hopes
for a new one

dancing all around
as sun fades down
it's the start of the
new beginning neither
saw coming but it was
entirely meant to be

blank space

until they bumped into
each other on the street
corner of 9th Ave and W 58th St
they never knew a piece
of their soul was missing
before their eyes locked

that day in may
smiles appear as green
eyes stare into blue

they had pasts with
other lovers that should
never reappear

guilt for her
lonely for him

the moment their eyes met
they never wanted to say
goodbye watching the clouds
float to the stars

style

the city buzzes
as madness begins

dancing to songs
without words

red lips match
her finger tips

they never let go
of this magical moment

time had stopped
no ticking clocks

connection too strong
to explain with simple words

out of the woods

on the tracks
captured in photographs

exploring up north
stressful december

smiles are kept
from that day

wanting to move forward
without saying goodbye

fights were loud
peace was settled

sun rose in the city
no trees to be found

all you had to do was stay

roses awaited her
on a february morning

sitting on her doorstep
petals with snow from
the night before

I'm sorry for
letting you down.
Wil you stil love me
when I'm not around?
x

looking down the busy

street she reflects on
moments she'd rather
erase from her memory

as the city wakes up
she stares at the roses
wondering how beautiful
moments could cause so
much pain looking back

shake it off

riding in a taxi
towards downtown

two souls remain silent
in the back seat

not knowing how to shake
off this feeling but
both desperately want to

the music plays
they speak without words

knowing in moments
they will be loving once more

dance floor filled with lovers
as they hold onto each other

shaking the past away
with every step they take

I wish you would

daydreaming while
staring at faded stars
against the light
of the night

wishing on all
the stars she would
show up on the street
below ready to forgive
the fight he'd already
forgotten about

bad blood

when things are good
the bad lingers ahead

not ready to accept
the past as time stops
and lives leave

reminder of what was
when they didn't stab
each other with
hateful comments

tears roll down her face
leaving in a rush
thinking how the wounds
will mend themselves

wildest dreams

her smile fades
into view

dreaming of sunsets
driving away from
the pain

running through
sunflower fields
laughter fills the
summer air

waking up tangled
in sheets
as time stands still
once more

moments without mess
not wanting to leave
the place they made them
see they're meant to be

how you get the girl

hard times end
words are forgotten

kissing on cheeks
as fall leaves match
the red on her lips

reminding each other of
their magical beginning

wanting forever
to be together

this love

hands hold each other
morning air blows in

silence lives in
it's own universe
but communicates
freely between them

coming back took
patience not clocked

knowing silent
moments without words
said is the mark left
on the mind of smiling faces
drifting to sleep

I know places

people want
everything
they wanted
nothing

realizing their love
is a candle that could
be blown out with
one breath blown

ships must sink
fighting to stay afloat
birds all around

clean

they loved
they faught
they left
in the end

on a may day
like the day they met
standing on the same
street corner

rain falling
she could breathe
freely on her own

two years
washes away
with every drop
that falls

accepting what was
truly meant to be

Poems inspired by Ryan Adams' cover album of Taylor Swift's 1989.
